Ken is survived by his loving wife Joan; daughter, Tina-Marie Lazda (Arno); grandsons, Haiden and Nathan; siblings, Joan, Jim, Brian, and Robert and their families. Ken was predeceased by his parents Alfred in 1977 and Mae in 2001.

Ken joined The Edmonton Police force April 21, 1969, where he was known as “Kenny”. He received several recognition awards during his career, but he was never one to boast about them. He retired 28 years later on April 11, 1997.

In the summer Ken relaxed by taking day trips on his 1100 Goldwing Interstate. He enjoyed summer holidays in Penticton, BC with family and friends. In the fall he took time for hunting trips with his friends Jim, Kevin, Mike, Randy, and Tom. Ken’s wish was to live in Rocky Mountain House which he had an opportunity to do 4 years ago. However, he had to return to Edmonton when he became ill.

Special thank-you to Leah and the Edmonton Palliative Home Care Team and Dr. F. Armstrong for their compassion and support as well as Dr. Sampson and the nursing staff on Unit 22 at the Leduc Hospital who did their best to keep him comfortable.

As per Ken’s request no service will be held and cremation has taken place. If you wish, please donate to Gamma Knife at the University of Alberta Hospital in his name.
