DENIS, Wayne L, Reg. No. 837

In mid-October, Dan Small posted on Facebook the below tribute to Wayne Denis from his daughter Giselle Denis-Payne

From Giselle Payne…daughter of Wayne and Cheri DENIS

At approximately 11:20pm on Tuesday Oct. 17th, 2023, my Dad passed away into the next life with Mom by his side.

Dad fought throat cancer hard for 5 1/2 years. Neil and I were at home watching a show when the song came on the soundtrack, “The first time ever I saw your face” by Roberta Flack. I said, “Oh my goodness Neil! That’s my parents song!!” I sent the song to Mom and told her to play it for Dad. She sat next to his hospital bed and played the song for him. A tear came streaming down his face, then she said his face lit up with a bright light and he didn’t look sick anymore. His breathing slowed down and then he was gone.

I wrote this song, “Live til I die” on the day I heard about the cancer. I recorded it with my friends. Mom played this song for Dad during his last few hours on Earth. When Dad was first diagnosed, he said, “Well….I’m gonna live til I die.” And that he certainly did.

I am happy-sad that he has passed on.

Thank you all for your love and support. Love, G
