Harry Krawchuk
With a deep sense of sorrow and loss, our family announces the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather, Harry Krawchuk, on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the age of 85 years. Harry is lovingly remembered by his wife of 57 years Addina; sons: Greg (Faye), Doug (Cathy), Blair (Bev); grandchildren: Alicia, Ryan (Tianna), Matthew, Luke, Marissa (Andy), Reeann, Brandon, Braden (Bev's son); great-granddaughter Leila; sister Ann (Gordon), as well as many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Abraham and Kalyna; brothers: William, Fred, Steve, Johnny and daughter-in-law Christine. Harry proudly served, for 30 years, with the Edmonton Police Service and upon retirement received an Exemplary Service Award. A Celebration of Harry's Life was held on Thursday, October 23, 2014.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff in Palliative Care Unit at St. Joseph's Hospital for the extraordinary care Dad received in his final weeks. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made in Harry's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Harry Krawchuk began his career with the Edmonton Police Department on August 15th, 1955. He started in Patrol Division and two years later transferred to Traffic Division. After 15 years in Traffic, Harry transferred briefly to C.I.D. plainclothes duty and then transferred to Traffic Safety Unit. That was followed by assignments in Patrol Administration, Warrant & Document Unit. When Harry retired on August 31st, 1984 his Reg. No. was 113.
Passed June 27th, 2014
Peter Tolson:
It is with great sadness that the family of Peter Tolson announces his passing on June 27, 2014 at the age of 72 years. Peter will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Anne, his son David and daughter in law Nicole, grandchildren Jonas and Brighton, sister Margaret and brother in law David, and brothers Graeme and George. A Memorial service was held on July 18, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter's memory to the Edmonton Humane Society.

Reg. No. 652, Constable Peter TOLSON continued his policing career by rejoining the Edmonton Police Department as a member of Class #24 on August 30th, 1971. Peter served with the Northumberland Constabulary between 1961 and 1971, although his service record shows that he actually worked with the EPD for three years from 1966 to 1969. Obviously, he went home for a while and later, like many, decided that Edmonton and Canada was a good to place to be and raise a family. In his career with EPD/EPS, Peter was assigned to Patrol Divisions, Gaol Section, Expert Accident Investigation Unit, Selective Enforcement Unit, Hit and Run Unit as well as a period in Training Section. Peter was working in West Division when he retired on January 5th, 2001.

Ron Hoglin:
It is with heart-felt sadness that we announce the passing of Ron Hoglin at the age of 67. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda, his two sons Paul (Jennifer) and Jonathan (Kaylie) and seven grandchildren, Sigrhe, Mairi, Fulton, Alton, Brenner, Owen and Kreszens will miss their grandfather dearly; as will his mother-in- law and several sisters and brothers-in-law and cousins. Reg. No. 661, Ron HOGLIN began his career with the Edmonton Police Department on September 13th, 1971. He was a member of Class No. 35. During his career Ron was assigned to a varity of Patrol Divisions, Communications Section, Gaol Unit, Crime Scenes & Criminal History Units, Warrant and Document Service, Court Security Unit, Selective Enforcement Unit, Traffic Flow Unit and Firearms Registration Unit. Ron finished career in Hit and Run Unit, retiring on March 1st, 2007.

John Main Reid:
On Saturday, June 21, John passed away peacefully.He leaves to cherish his memory: sons, Kenneth (Hilda), David (Lynn) and Ian (Cathy); grandchildren, Scott, Colin (Trish), Vincent, Patrick, Sherri (Tim), Erin, Allyson and Katie; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Nolan; sister, Bunty Reid; brother, George Reid; sisters-in-law, Tony Kencke and Beth Ewell, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. John was predeceased by his wife Margaret “Poppy.” John served with the RCNVR during WWII and then the Edmonton City Police for 32 years, Badge #1. John Reid joined the Edmonton Police Department after the war, on November 4th, 1946. He pre-dates formal recruit training classes being numbered. Looking at his service record, it appears that back in the day, service records were a high priority as it shows on day one he was assigned to Crime index and the next entry shows his promotion to Acting detective on March 25th, 1954. As a Detective, John worked in Morality section, Criminal investigation Division and C.I.B. Complain Desk. He was promoted to staff Sergeant in Traffic Division and was assigned to Press and Supreme Court Liaison Section for several years before his retirement on February 9th, 1979. Before retirement, John was assigned Reg. No. 1.

James (Jim) Griffith PRICE:
Our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on June 3, 2014 after a brief illness. Cherished by Virginia, his wife of 57 years; children: Wendy (Scott), Allan (Sandra) and Sheri; heartbroken grandchildren: Robyn, Jaime, Brett, Nicole and Tyler. He was a proud member of the Edmonton Police Service for 35 years, retiring in 1995. Jim volunteered at the Edmonton Food Bank, alongside Virginia. His greatest joys were his grandchildren, camping, garage sales, cheating at card games, and men's Bible studies. He was predeceased by an infant son, James, his parents, brother, and sister. A service in Jim’s memory was held at Northgate Baptist Church on Saturday, June 7th, 2014.
Jim Price started his career with the Edmonton Police Department, as a member of recruit Class #11, on April 4th, 1960. After his start in Patrol Division, he moved on to a variety of assignments, including Special Operations Division, Court & Gaol, Warrant & Document and Crimes Against Property. In 1975, Jim was promoted to Sergeant in Patrol Division and in 1978 he changed to Detective rank. As a Detective, Jim had assignments in C.I.D., Zone ‘B’, Sex Crimes Unit and Internal Affairs Section. 1991 saw Jim move back to uniform in Hit & Run Unit from where he retired on April 7th, 1995. At his retirement Jim was the wearer of Regimental Number 1. His prior Reg. No. was 203.
A member writes: “Just had a chance to read of Jim’s Passing. I personally found him to be a man of great integrity and always a joy to be around. Some of his experiences in the “Coal Branch” (the coal mining area around Cadomin) were educational, funny as hell and often frankly astounding.” Bob Claney

James (Jim) Robert Westergard:
He was a retired member of the Edmonton Police Service where he served for 25 years. In his retirement he was an avid golfer and worked at a local golf course every summer for many years. He is survived by his wife, Myrna of 45 years; two daughters Janet (Nathan) Stocker of Wenetchee, Washington, and Jill (Paul) Westergard of Sherwood Park; three granddaughters Alyssa Wallin of Selah, Washington, Kristen Henry of Sherwood Park and Erika Stocker of Wenatchee Washington. He is also survived by three sisters and one brother: Joanne Norris, Karen (Barry) Horn, Jack (Carol) Westergard and Laura (Gary) Baier; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother William (Pat). A Memorial Service was held at Sherwood Park on Thursday, May 1st. Donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute in James's Memory.

Reg. No. 384 James Robert Westergard became a member of Class #24 of the Edmonton Police Department on September 12th, 1966. Like all of us, he was assigned to Patrol after graduating. In 1970, Jim spent a short time in Communications Division before transferring back to Patrol Division “D” and he was promoted to Sergeant there in 1978. During his time as a Sergeant Downtown, Jim also spent 6 months in Information and Reception Unit. In 1984, Jim traded in his Sergeant’s stripes and became a CIS Detective in “C” Division. From there he moved to Fraud & Commercial Crimes Unit and remained there for about 6 years until his retirement on September 13th, 1991.

William (Bill) Farquhar:
Bill's journey ended suddenly April 12, 2014 at the age of 66. Bill will be forever loved and missed by his wife Diane; his two sons Wade (Sharlene) and Wes; his brother Ryan and sister Jill (Firoze); and by his grandchildren Logan, Isabelle and Nathanyal. His memory will also be cherished by brother-in-law Dave (Gilles); sisters-in-law Daphne (Murray), and Susan (Blair); as well as several nieces, nephews and of course his four legged buddy Jake. Bill will also be remembered by many friends including members of the Edmonton Police Service, curling and golfing buddies. He was predeceased by his mother and father George and Barb Patton. Reg. No. 457 William Brian FARQUHAR joined the Edmonton Police Department on March 18th, 1968 as a member of Recruit Training Class #27. After training, Bill was assigned to Patrol Division. During his career he had assignments in Gaol Section, Court & Summons Section, Traffic Section, Community Services Section, Warrant & Document Section and various Patrol Divisions. In 1986, Bill transferred to “A” Division and retired from there on March 17th, 1993.

Richard (Rick) Plunkett
beloved husband of Tracy of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on March 21, 2014 in Lethbridge, AB at the age of 65 years. He is survived by his children; Angela (Tony), Jamie and their mother Linda; Ricky (Norma), Amy (Todd), Jennifer (Nick) and their mother Lori; Amber, Ashley (Clayton), Christopher (Cassie) and his greatest loves, his grandchildren Caitlyn, Valkyrie, Little Girls, Faelen, Bad Egg, Chatter Box, Little Newf, Pooper, Newbie, Connor, Short Stuff, Stinker, Little Missy and Pumpkin. Rick is also lovingly remembered by his five siblings and their spouses, nieces, nephews and extended families. He was predeceased by his parents Cecil and Simone and his brother Jerry.
Rick worked hard all of his life. He started in the coal mines in northern Manitoba then moved to Edmonton where he joined and served on the Edmonton City Police Force till his retirement. He moved to Lethbridge where he enjoyed life with his children and most importantly, his grandchildren. Rick was a devoted family man and an avid sports fan. He was a people person and had many friends with whom he was always willing to help out. Friends were always welcome into his home. A Memorial Service was held at Lethbridge, Alberta on Friday, March 28th, 2014. Rick Plunkett joined The Edmonton Police Department on March 22, 1971. During his service Rick had assignments in Patrol Divisions A and D, Warrant & Document Service and Communications. In 1988 he transferred to Traffic Flow Detail where he remained for 8 years. In 1996, he moved to Detention Unit just prior to his retirement on June 29th.

Donald John (Jack) MacDougall:
On February 16, 2014, Jack passed away at 83 years of age. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Doris; daughters Gerry and Jacqueline (Gregg); son Don (Colleen); grandchildren and great grandson; brother Bob (Jackie) and Jack's extended family. Jack was predeceased by his parents Don and Gerry MacDougall; sisters Alice and Joanne. A Memorial Service was held on February 21, 2014. Jack MacDougall joined the Edmonton Police Force on March 24th, 1958 and was assigned to Patrol Division. 3 years later he received CID training and then did a stint in the Training School. After that it was back to Patrol, before his first CID assignment in 1962. Following that were assignments in Patrol and Communications before Jack was reclassified to Detective Constable in 1964. He must’ve got the hang of it as he was promoted to Detective in 1967. Following his promotion, Jack had assignments in Stolen Car Detail, Assault Unit and CIS, Zone D as well as a stint in Operations. Jack retired on April 28th, 1982.
